1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of the StudentCore website (the "Service"), which is operated by Appsession Ltd. References to "we", "us" and "our" in these terms mean Appsession Ltd. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these terms on your behalf.
3. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter, for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
Your first and last name are locked 90 days after registration to preserve the integrity of the records we use for AI scoring and references. Other profile details remain editable.
4. Subscription and payment
- Full access to the Service costs £60 for 12 months. Payment is taken as a single one-off charge and grants access for the period from the date of payment.
- Free accounts may use the My Profile section only. All other sections are unavailable until full access has been purchased.
- Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. We never see or store your card details.
- Renewals are not automatic - your access ends on the expiry date shown in your account unless you purchase again.
- Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations you may cancel a one-off purchase within 14 days for a full refund, provided you have not made material use of the paid features during that period. By starting the paid Service you expressly ask us to begin immediate performance and accept that, once you have made material use of it, your right to a refund is lost.
- For the avoidance of doubt, you are deemed to have made material use of the paid features (and therefore no refund will be given) once both of the following are true: you have answered more than 40% of the trait assessment questions, and you have generated or saved at least one personal statement using the Service. Either action on its own keeps the refund right intact during the 14-day window; together, they void it.
- Refund requests must be sent in writing to the contact address below before either of the thresholds above is met, and in any event within 14 days of payment.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload false, misleading, defamatory or unlawful content;
- use the Service to harass, threaten or impersonate any other person;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts or our infrastructure;
- scrape, mirror, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service or its AI-generated outputs without our prior written consent;
- use the Service to generate content for the purpose of academic fraud, plagiarism or misrepresentation to any third party (including universities, employers and examination boards).
6. AI-generated content and third-party processing
The Service uses artificial intelligence to analyse the information you provide and to generate text (personal statements, evaluations, summaries, and trait / cognitive scores). To do this, your profile data - including answers to assessment questions, books, achievements, education, experience, hobbies, check-ins and personal-statement drafts - is transmitted to and processed by our AI provider, which hosts data in the UK and EU and does not use your data to train its AI models. Your data is also processed by our infrastructure providers for hosting, payment processing (Stripe) and analytics. By using the Service you consent to this processing. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
7. Purpose of the Service and use at your own risk
StudentCore is intended to produce a first draft of a personal statement and to give you inspiration, structure and prompts as you develop your application. It is a drafting aid - it is not an application service, an admissions consultancy, a legal adviser, a careers adviser, an academic tutor or a substitute for any of those.
You use the Service entirely at your own risk. You acknowledge and accept that:
- All content produced by, displayed within or copied from the Service - including AI-generated personal statements, evaluations, scores, summaries, suggestions and any other output - is provided "as is", for guidance and inspiration only.
- The output may be incorrect, incomplete, out of date, inconsistent, or entirely fabricated (so-called AI hallucinations). It may also reflect bias present in the underlying data or model.
- You are solely responsible for checking, verifying and editing all information before relying on it, sharing it, submitting it to any third party (including universities, examination boards, employers, regulators and immigration authorities), or using it for any other purpose. Do not submit AI output unchanged.
- We accept no responsibility and no legal liability for the consequences of any use you make of content produced by, copied from, or based on the Service - including but not limited to rejected applications, missed deadlines, disciplinary action, accusations of plagiarism or academic misconduct, financial loss, reputational harm, or any other direct or indirect loss.
- Nothing the Service produces is professional advice. Where you need legal, medical, financial, immigration, careers or admissions advice, you must consult a properly qualified professional.
- You are responsible for complying with the rules of any university, examination board, employer or other body to whom you submit work, including any rules that body has about the use of AI in applications. The Service does not check or enforce those rules on your behalf.
If you do not accept this allocation of responsibility, do not use the Service.
8. Your content and licence to us
You retain ownership of the content you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, transmit and display that content as necessary to operate the Service, including transmission to the AI and infrastructure providers described above. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where retention is required by law.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change or remove features at any time. Where a change materially reduces the paid functionality you have purchased, we will notify you and offer a pro-rata refund of unused time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and in addition to the allocation of responsibility set out in section 7, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any content produced by it. We are not liable for the accuracy, completeness or suitability of any AI-generated output, nor for any decision you (or anyone else) take based on it. Our total liability for any direct loss in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in that period. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or if required by law. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of unused time except as set out in section 4 or section 9.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of them, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms or refund requests should be sent to contact@appsession.co.uk.
